Maryann was born in Brampton and graduated from McMaster University with a Social work degree in 1983. She worked 10 years in the Owen Sound area as a social worker. She accepted the Lord as her Saviour at the age of 30 and was baptized a year later at the First Baptist Church in Owen Sound. While serving on the Deacon’s Board of her local church she heard God’s call to train for the ministry. She graduated in 1998 from McMaster Divinity College with a Master of Divinity. She is married to Al Turcott and they have two children. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, scrapbooking and travelling. She has no musical ability of any kind, but she enjoys singing. Her favourite life verse is: You are the light of the world” A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand and it gives light to everyone in the house.” ( Matthew 5: 14-15) At Bethany, we are trying to shine our light out into the community. The cross on our building is lit at night and can be seen shining out in the darkness. We pray that as Christians we also will shine the light of Jesus into the world.
