Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me.
They replied, “Let us start rebuilding.” So they began this good work.
Nehemiah 2:17-18
“LET US START REBUILDING.”
Without doubt the last few years have been very difficult for most people and communities. Many people have lost faith and hope, and feel despair for the future. Our old life is gone and a lot of the old ways have fallen by the wayside. Families have divided. Some friends have moved on.
Bethany Baptist Church also did not escape the effects of the last few years. Our fellowship groups and commissions stopped meeting, our Sunday school closed, a number of our members and adherents stopped attending
However, we kept our doors open. We believe nobody should be separated from the God-given right to worship God and turned nobody away. We adapted and followed all Covid measures and safety protocols for our congregation at worship, and set up online broadcasting for those who chose to worship from home. We even welcomed a few new Adherents and baptized three new Members, who were all moved to join our little community
And now our congregation is slowly coming back to the fold, so let us start rebuilding the Bethany community. We will rebuild with the goal to create in Bethany an accepting, encouraging, stimulating Christian fellowship.
Inspired by Nehemiah and Ezra from the Old Testament, our small community of faith is beginning the process of rebuilding and reuniting the Bethany community in Christian worship and fellowship.
